At the exit of the terminal an operator from “Sea Horse Diving Cruises” will be waiting for you to take you to your transfer vehicle.
General rules on liveaboards: Salon, cabins and sun-deck are dry-zones. Don’t throw any trash in the sea. Smoking is absolutely forbidden in the cabins and the salon. Alcohol consumption only after the last dive of the day. Don’t put any toilet-paper in the toilet. Use as less fresh water as possible – it’s limited. Turn off the lights in the cabin if you don’t need them. When the boat is moving, keep the port-holes closed. Secure any objects to avoid them falling down. Your communication partner is the dive guide.
The transfer to our harbour takes abaut 15 min. When you enter the boat you have to take off your shoes. On deck you walk either barefoot or with slippers. After the welcome by the dive guide he will finish the paperwork with you and give you a briefing about the route and the rules on board.
The food on liveaboards is mostly a mixture of european and egyptian cuisine. If you appreciate eating untypical Egyptian products which are not available here you should bring them yourself. The variety of beverages usually includes instant coffee, tea, water, cola, sprite, beer and wine.
Power supply: The voltage is 220 Volts. At nighttime the generators are usually turned off. It’s an advantage to bring quick-reloaders which can handle low-power periods.
Tips: Please plan in your budget to bring along an appropriate tip for the crew of your boat. The usual tip is about 30 Euro for one week in the sea. In Egypt it is the custom to give “Baksheesh” (tip) and it will be expected.
Climate: The summer in Egypt is almost free of clouds and rain. At this time you can have temperatures up to 45 degree Celsius. In winter the temperature reaches a maximum of 25 degrees Celsius. From November to march it can get quite cold during the night. The surface temperature of the water reaches 30 degrees Celsius in summer and doesn’t sink below 21 degree Celsius in winter. All in all, it is windy throughout the year. Most of the time the wind comes from the north causing a slightly troubled sea. It is quite seldom that there is no wind and a calm sea. Choose your clothing depending on the season of the year. If you prefer to sleep on deck, a sleeping-bag is recommended during the the wintermonths. We hope our information and suggestions were of help to you and wish you a nice and exiting diving vacation!
